The Earby and District Local History Society was founded in 1995 when six people attended a meeting at New Road Community Centre in Earby.
Membership is now twenty five times that and still growing. A good proportion of the members are "out of town" members who are either exiled Earbyites or have ancestors connected with the area.
The Society's area of main interest is the Ancient Parish of Thornton-in-Craven and includes Thornton-in-Craven, Earby, Kelbrook, Sough and Harden.
